Background

This guide outlines the key points about customs data submitted from Linnworks for (New) DHL Parcel UK.

- HS Tariff Code

With the (New) DHL Parcel UK integration, there is a significant change in the HS Tariff Code requirement. Now, for shipments via (New) DHL Parcel UK, the HS Tariff Code is truncated automatically by Linnworks to 8 digits (previously, it was 10 digits).

HS Tariff Code needs to be added as an Item Extended Property. Additionally, it is possible to add in Shipping > Integrations > Services > Edit Service > Default HS Tariff Code that will be used if Item Extended Property is missing:

- Country of Origin

Country of Origin needs to be added as an Item Extended Property. Additionally, it is possible to add in Shipping > Integrations > Services > Edit Service > Default Country of Origin that will be used if Item Extended Property is missing.

- Goods Description

A key feature of the (New) DHL Parcel UK integration is flexibility in specifying Goods Description.

Previously, Goods Description was specified on the Service level. All items shipped via the same Service would receive the same description.

Now, Goods Descriptions can be individually assigned per item using the Item Extended Properties feature in shipping integration properties.

You need to add Goods Description as Item Extended Property (check the spelling in Shipping > Integrations > Properties) to the required items (can be done manually or via Inventory Import, similarly to the way HS Tariff Code is added) and then each item will submit its own description to the Vendor.

Keep in mind that Goods Description is a mandatory field, so it needs to be added to the shipped goods.

- Additional Customs Description

Additional Customs Description is an optional field and can be added as an additional explanation for goods. This field is not required but will be sent if added as Items Extended Property.

- IOSS Service requirement

In the context of (New) DHL Parcel UK, DHL Parcel Connect (Service Code 206) can only be used to ship IOSS Orders and Orders going to the Republic of Ireland. Make sure to use DHL Parcel Connect with IOSS Orders only, otherwise, this will result in an error message.

- UK Highland and Islands orders

For UK Highland and Islands orders (for example, if you ship to Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, and similar) you would need to use Parcel Neighbour 48Hrs (Service Code 48). Other Shipping Services will result in error messages.

- Duties Paid Type and Export Reason

For all international services, such as DHL Parcel Connect, International Road Economy, DHL Parcel International or Worldwide Air, please configure the Duties Paid Type and Export Reason.

This can be configured in Shipping > Integrations > Services > Edit Service:
