Royal Mail and some other couriers require HS Tariff Code (Harmonized or HS code) and Country of Origin attributes for international shipments. These can be easily imported for your inventory items using Import Data or the My Inventory drag&drop import.
1. Prepare a CSV file containing all the required data. If you don't have a CSV file with all your SKUs, you can easily export it from Dashboards > Query Data > Stock Items (no levels).
You can delete all other columns except for SKU. Then, add the HSTariffCode (Tariff Code*) and CountryOfOrigin (Country of Origin**) columns to your file. You can use a different name for these columns if you wish, as you can map them in the system afterwards.
* You can check HS Tariff Codes here. Note that most couriers require 8-digit codes. The exception is Royal Mail which accepts a minimum of 6 digits and a maximum of 10 digits for the HS Tariff Code. If you import full harmonized code (8 characters), Linnworks will truncate it to 6 characters for Royal Mail.
** Country of Origin must contain an ISO alpha-2 or ISO alpha-3 code for Royal Mail (Note! It is preferred to use 2-digit country codes rather than 3-digit ones.) Please refer to this website for a full list of ISO alpha-2 and alpha-3 codes.
2. You can either use:
- the My Inventory drag&drop import to add simple Extended Properties as per the guidance here.
- Or you can create a new import in Settings > Import Data > Import Now. For importing new extended properties you need to use the Inventory Import. Columns that contain your attributes need to be mapped with Item Extended Property variable from the drop-down menu. The name of the header will be the name of your property, and the Property type needs to be Attribute (these will be set automatically). Once imported, these properties will appear on your stock items in the Extended Properties tab.
3. Once the properties have been added to your inventory items, you now need to link these properties with the correct attributes in your shipping integration. This can be done by clicking Properties in the courier integration screen (Linnworks.net > Shipping > Integrations > Royal Mail > Properties).
Under the Item Extended Property column, select the name of the property that you have imported or keep it as it is if you used the exact same name formats for your columns (Note these are case-sensitive and will also take into account spaces)
