Starting July 27, 2026, Amazon is reducing the maximum title length for product listings in all non-media categories to 75 characters (including spaces).

This is an Amazon policy change, not a Linnworks change, and applies regardless of which software you use to manage your Amazon listings.

This article explains:

  • What is changing
  • How it affects your Linnworks listings
  • What action we recommend
  • What happens if your titles exceed the new limit

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Important: Amazon is reducing the maximum listing title length to 75 characters for all categories except media (such as books, music and video). We recommend reviewing and shortening any titles over 75 characters before July 27, 2026 to ensure you control the final wording of your listings.

What is changing?

From July 27, 2026, Amazon will limit listing titles to 75 characters, including spaces, across all non-media categories.

Amazon is also introducing Item Highlights, a new field that provides up to 125 additional characters for product information such as materials, key features or intended use. Item Highlights appear alongside your listing title in Amazon search results and on the product detail page.

At this time, Item Highlights are only available within Amazon Seller Central and are not currently supported through Linnworks.

Do I need to do anything?

You aren't required to update your listings before July 27.

Your existing listings will remain active regardless of title length.

However, we recommend reviewing any titles longer than 75 characters and shortening them before the deadline so that you control the wording, rather than allowing Amazon to automatically update them.

Update your titles in Linnworks

You can update your listing titles directly in Linnworks.

  1. Open the relevant product or update your listings using an import.
  2. Update any Listing Product Titles that exceed 75 characters.
  3. Revise the listing to your Amazon channel.

Alternatively, you can update your titles directly in Amazon Seller Central:

  1. Go to Manage All Inventory.
  2. Select a listing and choose Edit.
  3. Open View enhancements to review Amazon's AI-generated title and Item Highlights.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. If required, use Extract Inventory in Linnworks to import the updated titles back into Linnworks.

What happens after July 27?

If a listing still has a title longer than 75 characters after July 27:

  • Your listing will remain live.
  • Amazon will gradually replace the title with its own AI-generated recommendation.
  • Where supported, Amazon may also generate Item Highlights.
  • You can continue editing both the title and Item Highlights at any time.

If you're enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry, Amazon will provide a 14-day review period to approve or edit AI-generated recommendations before they're published using Amazon's Review Listing Changes tool.

Revising listings from Linnworks after July 27

If you revise an Amazon listing from Linnworks on or after July 27 and the title still exceeds 75 characters, Amazon will reject that revision.

Your listing will remain active, but the revision will fail until the title has been shortened.

To resolve this:

  1. Shorten the title to 75 characters or fewer.
  2. Save the updated title.
  3. Revise the listing again.

Will Linnworks shorten my titles automatically?

No. Linnworks does not automatically modify listing titles.

If you don't revise the listing, Amazon will gradually update longer titles using its own AI-generated recommendations.

If you revise a listing from Linnworks with a title that exceeds 75 characters, Amazon will reject that specific revision until the title is updated.

Item Highlights

Amazon's new Item Highlights field allows an additional 125 characters of searchable product information.

This field is currently only supported within Amazon and is not yet available through Linnworks.

Amazon is still confirming API support for this field. We'll update this article as more information becomes available.

Does this affect all Amazon categories?

The change applies to all Amazon categories except media, including books, music and video.

Amazon has not yet provided complete guidance for some scenarios, such as bundles and parent/child variation listings. If you're unsure whether your listings are affected, we recommend checking the latest guidance from Amazon.

Recommended action

Before July 27, 2026:

  • Review your Amazon listing titles.
  • Shorten any titles longer than 75 characters.

After July 27, 2026:

  • No immediate action is required if you haven't updated your titles.
  • Your listings will remain live while Amazon gradually applies its own recommendations.
  • If you revise a listing from Linnworks, ensure the title is 75 characters or fewer to avoid validation errors.
  • You can use Extract Inventory to update titles in bulk after Amazon has applied any changes.

You can continue updating your titles at any time, even after Amazon applies its own recommendations.
