With the Extended Rules for Shipping Services functionality in the Linnworks.net configurator, you can specify multiple shipping methods in a configurator, and then set rules to define the cost or availability of those methods on a listing by listing basis.

How to set the shipping cost for an item and shipping service by weight


In order to use the weight of your products to control the postage price, ensure that the inventory items have weight specified in Linnworks. This can be done via the Data Import, or manually, as below:

  • In Linnworks.net, got to Inventory > My Inventory
  • Click the SKU of an item you would like to update
  • Switch to Postage Definition tab
  • Enter the weight for the product
  • Click Save to save changes

 

Once your items to be listed have weights set, you can setup rule(s) in a configurator

  1. In Linnworks.net, got to Settings > Configurators > eBay
  2. Open Shipping section of needed configurator 
  3. In Shipping Services section click Weight Rules button for a selected service 
  4. Use the Add New button to create a new row
  5. Add a value for the ToWeight (From Weight is not editable in order to avoid weight gaps), and a shipping cost for items that fall within that range
  6. Click Save when you have setup all the rules you need
  7. Repeat for any other Services you want to add these rules to

 

Info! Make sure there is a Default Value set for the Shipping Service(s), for listing items where the weight is outside the values you have specified.

 

Info! New items listed with the updated/new configurator on the channel with the weight rule setup will gain the rules automatically.
Where the weight of the item being listed falls within the ranges specified, the listing will show the shipping method with the associated price. Where the weight is outside the range, the Default price will be shown instead.


How to exclude a shipping service from a listing based on the product listings 'Buy It Now' price


If you only want certain shipping services to be available for certain price bands, for example insured courier services for individual items over £100, you can specify a price range as part of the configurator.

  1. In Linnworks.net, got to Settings > Configurators > eBay
  2. Open Shipping section of needed configurator
  3. In Shipping Services section click Association Rules button for a selected service 
  4. Make sure the option for Product 'BIN Price' between is ticked
  5. Set the upper and lower price limits for this Shipping Service to be available in the listing
  6. Click Save when you have finished to close the Association Rules window
