Scenario

The customer has left a note on the order asking to leave the parcel in a specific place and you would like to add this note to the shipping label.

Delivery Notes option

The Delivery Notes option availability depends on the Courier Integration you are using. Most integrations that do support this option, send the Delivery Note to the courier during label generation. Others send this information over when the manifest is filed. Whether the Delivery Note can also be displayed on the shipping label varies by integration as well.

Please see the below list of Courier Integrations that support Delivery Notes together with the character limit per each courier and whether it will also be displayed on the shipping label itself:

Royal Mail OBA and Tracked support the Safeplace message that can be printed on Royal Mail Tracked/OBA shipping labels with the safeplace logo. This note will also be sent to Royal Mail with all the other consignment data when the manifest is filed.

The note needs to be added as internal order note in this format: DN:SL:

Any text afterwards will be used for a safeplace location.

Example: DN:SL: Back door.

Simple DN: format can be for used for Royal Mail OBA and Tracked used as well. This will print a note on the shipping label, but without a safeplace logo and the note will not be sent to Royal Mail electronically.

Adding the Delivery Note

If the Courier Integration you are using support Delivery notes, it will need to be added as an order note with the DN: prefix.

NB! If you are using Legacy Desktop to print Shipping Labels for your orders, then please note that the Delivery Notes function is only supported when printing from Linnworks.net.

1. Go to Orders > Open Orders > right-click/Actions > Other Actions > View Order Notes (in old Open Orders: Action > Edit Order Notes).

2. Add DN: before the actual order note and save changes
(for Royal Mail OBA/Tracked Safeplace note, use the prefix DN:SL:):

3. Print the shipping label.
The note will appear on the label itself only if the Courier Integration supports printing the Delivery Note on the label. For other integrations, printing the label will pass the note on to the courier (see table above).

NB! for Royal Mail OBA/Tracked and Yodel, the note will only be sent to the courier when the manifest is filed.
