When creating listings on eBay, the weight values will only be passed along to the channel if the Shipping rate type is set to Calculated or when the Global Shipping Program is enabled within the Configurator settings. This is due the fact that a weight is not required to be present on a listing when the FlatĀ shipping rate type is used, as the shipping costs would not depend on the weight of the item, it's dimensions, or the buyer's location. The 'Calculated' shipping rate may be applied by going to the eBay Configurators screen, opening the Shipping settings of a configurator and setting the Rate value to 'Calculated'.
The Global Shipping Program is enabled via the Main settings of a configurator.
It should be noted, however, that the Calculated shipping rate type is currently only available to US sellers and the UK eBay site only allows for the Flat rate to be used. Despite this fact, shipping costs may still be calculated based on the weight of the item that is being created using the Weight Rules, available in the shipping settings of a configurator. To configure the weight rules, the following needs to be done:
- Go to the eBay Configurators screen and open the Shipping Settings
- Open the Weight Rules settings
- Apply a weight range
- Add the shipping cost and the additional item cost to this particular weight range
- Save the changes
If the shipping costs are also applied via the item's Extended Properties, this is the order that will be used to decide, which value will be submitted:
