Search open orders (despatch console) using channel reference number (.net version)

 Hi

It would be useful to have the ability to search by channel reference number via the Despatch console on .net (like we can on the desktop version)

We search by ebay order number and process orders this way on desktop, but on .net it doesn't allow you to.

Hi Andrew,

I have just tested this functionality and can confirm that if a Channel reference number is entered into Despatch Console the Linnworks order is found and displayed ready to be processed.

Ok thanks, so there is a problem with how linnworks does this.


A magento order number comes up with the prefix MAGENTO (ie order number MAGENTO100012345.)  On the open orders search you just need to search 12345 and this order comes up.  However in dispatch console, you must type the whole thing out to get the order to show up which is not really useable for our staff. 


I understand why this is the case, so that you must type a unique order number, but it would work better if it would find the order by not requiring the prefix ( since we can filter 'view selection' by the correct website view so it would be a unique number)

Hi Andrew,

although you can filter the view, this is the actual channel reference number on the order and it has been set up to use exact match only (as you have previously stated) so there is no risk selecting the incorrect order.

If you print either your Linnworks order number or Channel Reference number on your paperwork as a barcode then you will find you process speeds up through use of a barcode scanner and there is also no risk of manually typing in the wrong number.


If you use partial match the number you enter could match either the Linnworks order number or the channel reference number, making it dangerous.

Hence we have used exact match only to remove the risk of accidental despatch.

Makes sense to me.  Thanks.  I have setup the packing sheet with the order number as a barcode.  How can I setup the use of a barcode scanner to scan these into the system?

Hi Andrew, Any standard off the shelf barcode scanner will work. Just plug it in to your pc and then when the text box in despatch console has focus anything you scan will appear here and automatically trigger the search. Regs Mark
