Scenario
I have been using the (New) Amazon Shipping integration to print labels, but sometimes the services throw errors or are assigned incorrectly. I have to run Quotes manually to see which services are available for the Order. Is there a quicker way to do this without checking Quotes each time?
Solution
To avoid manually running Quotes and choosing a service, you can use the Service Selector.
Details on how it works are provided below:
- What is the Service Selector, and where is it?
Service Selector is a shipping service found under Shipping > Integrations > Services for (New) Amazon Shipping > Add New. If it is not already added, you can select it from the list. - How does the Service Selector work?
Service Selector works like Quotes. When assigned, it automatically picks the right Amazon Shipping service based on the criteria you set. It runs when you print a label and works for both Amazon and non-Amazon orders. - How do I set the conditions?
Go to Shipping > Integrations > Services for (New) Amazon Shipping > Edit Service Selector. There, you will see two options for setting criteria:
When you run Quotes, Amazon returns the estimated delivery date and price for each service:
If you set the Selection Method to Cheapest, Amazon will choose the service with the lowest cost, in this case, the one that costs 1.84.If you choose Fastest, it will pick the service with the earliest delivery date, here, the one delivering on May 21st.
If you set Days to Deliver (instead of Any Day), Service Selector will only consider services that meet that delivery timeframe. For example, if you select Next Day and the order was placed on May 20th, only services delivering on May 21st will be considered. Then, based on your Selection Method (Cheapest or Fastest), it will choose the best match and print the label.
- How do I assign the Service Selector?
You can assign the Service Selector manually, through Shipping Allocation, or using the Rules Engine.
To assign it manually: Go to Orders > Open Orders > Shipping > Change Service, and select Service Selector.
Through Shipping Allocation: It can be assigned based on the Shipping Tag from the Order XML. More details here.
Through Rules Engine: You can assign the Service Selector as an action based on specific conditions you define. More details here.
