When you are importing Open Orders into Linnworks, then the items on the orders will only affect your stock level if the order items are linked to Linnworks SKUs. Unlinked items will also not be able to pull details like weight, dimensions, etc from your Product Details, which may be needed for e.g. printing shipping labels.
Imported order items will be automatically linked in 2 cases:
- There is a matching Channel SKU link created for the Linnworks SKU with the appropriate Source and SubSource
- The Channel SKU matches with Linnworks SKU
In case the SKUs on your orders do not match Linnworks SKUs, then by default the items would stay unlinked, since in most cases you would have Channel SKU entries on your items based on the actual Channel Integrations added to your system e.g. Source EBAY and SubSource EBAY 1, etc:
When you are importing Open Orders however, then the Source on the order would always display as DATAIMPORTEXPORT. You can only add a custom entry to the SubSource field of an imported order:
As a result, even if your SubSource would be e.g. EBAY1 for which you have an entry on the Channel SKU tab, then the Source is different and the item would remain unlinked.
In order to make sure that your order items are linked in case you are using different SKUs on your orders than you have in your My Inventory in Linnworks, you will need to add a specific Channel SKU entry to your SKUs.
This can be done by using Stock Item Linking import. Make sure that you add the entry DATAIMPORTEXPORT as the Source and whichever SubSource you use on your orders as the SubSource.
This will create the correct entry on your Channel SKU tab for the items and all imported orders will have a record to check for linking the order items to your inventory:
