Hello!
The refresh button in Beta open orders was only designed to be there temporarily and will be removed soon. It was put there as a workaround while we make sure that views are auto-refreshing properly, and once that's confirmed we can remove the button. There's no need to have a refresh button if your views are always accurate!
Having a separate apply button makes applying multiple filters faster. If you've got 5,000 orders in a view, defining all your filters upfront then applying them to a single data set is a lot quicker than applying one filter, waiting for the filter to take effect, then applying another filter, then another etc. The Apply button also removes filters that can no longer be applied to the orders that have been returned. This helps thin out the filter selection and makes it easier to use.
A year has passed.
Auto refresh being removed was mentinoed to be a temporary thing.
Its quite important to what I do.
Is there an ETA?
5 months and still no update on this?
Has this been looked into?
Its 2 years since raised
This remains an issue - changing a view then requires the view to be refreshed
Refresh should refresh all views
and/or allow each view to have an auto-refresh interval and/or to refresh automatically once on selection

3 years and no auto refresh every 10 mins or so
thumbs down!
Auto Refresh would be great - a temporary thing lasting 5 years!
any updates on this? 5 years since it was temporary, 4 years since last LW reply.
Its becoming a meta-physical matter.
Confucius say: "not only is there no auto-update, there is no update to the thread requesting auto update"
The linnworks speed of increasing our yearly price however is accelerating. They have some kind of dark pricing now where there is nothing listed on the site and they just contact you to tell you how much more your bill will be. Remember that auto refresh was something that existed on linnworks desktop, so we're paying more, while features being removed. Not everyone wants a super integrated all features flashing super expensive system. Especially when the basics are not there.
For me, the things I'd like to see are:
- an interval where a refresh automatically happens. Probably a setting which can be changed / and default to none so existing behaviour is maintained
- when I click refresh (or it refreshes) refresh *all* views (isn't this obvious?!) Right now you hit refresh, change a saved view and it shows an old set of data requiring another refresh
Hello!
We've made a lot of changes to how the screen automatically refreshes. The 'hard refresh' button still exists, but now does far less than it used to. I'll try to explain exactly what that button is for, as well as highlight a concern that we're currently investigating.
Behind the scenes, Linnworks always knows which orders should be in each open order view. The 'refresh' decides which of those orders you see. Most of the time that refresh is automatic, and in some cases it's not.
Behaviour 1: Changing orders in a view you're using
When someone changes an order, that change is reflected on-screen automatically. If you're looking at an Unpaid order sat in your open order's grid, and someone updates that order to Paid, that change is reflected automatically without you needing to press the Refresh button. User feedback told us that having these order changes happen instantly is crucial to make sure everyone's seeing the same order details.
Behaviour 2: Orders leaving a view you're using
When someone changes an order that results in it leaving the view you're using, the screen automatically refreshes. For example, you can have a view that only shows orders going to Germany, and as soon as someone changes an order's destination to France, it's removed from the screen automatically without you having to press the Refresh button. User feedback told us that having these orders instantly leave the view is crucial to ensure that no one accidentally performs an action on an order that shouldn't be in the view they're using.
Behaviour 3: Orders entering a view you're using
When a new order is captured by Linnworks, or someone changes an order that results in it entering the view you're using, Linnworks knows that order should appear on screen, but it doesn't show it automatically. Instead of inserting new orders into the view you're using, Linnworks tells you there's new orders that should be in this view, and if you're ready to see them, then you can load them into the screen with the refresh button. User feedback has told us that when someone's using a view, they want some degree of control over when they see those new orders.
Behaviour 4: Someone's changing the view you're using.
When someone edits the view you're looking at, it's likely that the collection of orders in that view might change. To stop someone else from interrupting the orders you're looking at, Linnworks tells you that someone's changed the view, and if you're ready to see those changes, then you can apply them with the refresh button.
Behaviour 3 and Behaviour 4 should be the only two reasons you should ever have to hit the refresh button yourself.
Behaviour 5: Orders entering and leaving a view you're not using
A view that you're not looking at should be automatically refreshing all actions (order changes/additions/subtractions from a view) all the time. This happens so that when you first open a view it's the most up-to-date version of that view without you having to refresh.
What we're looking at right now
My current concern is that although the first four behaviours I've described are working, the 5th is not. You're opening a view that seemingly has X number of orders, but then immediately hit the refresh button to see Y number of orders, eroding your confidence in the supposedly automatic refresh, and forcing you to hit that refresh button every time to make 100% sure you're seeing all the orders you should be seeing. Although we've found this issue difficult to replicate internally, we have evidence of it happening out in the wild, and are actively trying to understand why it's happening.
Thanks for the reply.
I mostly organise things into folders. I then use Order Views to view the contents of different combination of folders with other filters.
I use rules engine, manual moves, and one script/macro (something or other, running on desktop) to change folders
When I first loaded up Open Orders this morning, it went straight to "CHECK" view and it was updated / correct
I then swapped to my “PENDING” view, but had to hit refresh. Same when I go to my “PRINT” view. Without a refresh the views were wildly out of date.
It may be that my desktop script/macro whatever isn’t triggering the refresh / change to a folder.
However, having the view refresh automatically when I change it (perhaps on an option in the view) would resolve this.
Also, I understand the point you make on behaviour 3, about not auto-refreshing, but we certainly have some views where we’d prefer auto-refresh. Having this as an option, in the view, would seem to cover both those who want it, and those who don’t.

Seconding what Kev says above
My feedback is I'd like this to auto update itself immediately. Is it possible to have a configuration option to choose this.
Can only agree to all those comments above. I have raised those concerns as soon as the new window "open orders" was released. This behaviours problems that are impacting us daily are a real pain. Every single time you use a view, you feel the pain.
And we have been promised several time that it was fixed but so far still not fully solved

Please could you add auto refresh to Open Orders Beta just like the old open orders screen. So when you change views it auto refreshes instead of always clicking the refresh button because currently you have to click refresh to update the view. Same with when canceling orders etc, the order still shows until you press refresh. The old open orders screen automatically refreshes when you change views or make changes to orders etc.
Also in the Open Orders Beta, would be great if when using filters, when you tick options they automatically apply just like linnworks desktop. Currently when you tick a filter you always have to click apply and then untick and click apply again to remove the filter. It also hides other options when one filter is applied e.g if you filter one folder then other folders are hidden and you cannot tick them until you untick the current folder and click apply again to see the other folders again.
Would be much better if filters would auto apply and you can easily tick and untick options like desktop.
Thank you.
