Subsource of Exchanges and Resends to take parent order value

This is probably a very specific issue to us but maybe others would like this too. Currently when you create a resend or exchange, the SOURCE is set to DIRECT and the SUB SOURCE is set as the SOURCE of the parent order. So for example this is what happens:
The problem with this is that we have multiple channels with the same SOURCE. Therefore when we run reports off the system and check which channel generated the data (e.g. order, stock sold by source etc.), it is impossible for us to tell which channel it was from. We need this as we cross charge shipping costs between channels and also stock costs. The solution would be simple and that is to use the SUB SOURCE of the parent order as the SUB SOURCE of the exchange/resend. Therefore this would happen:
