Royal Mail Barcode on 1st & 2nd class mail (not tracked mail)

I've asked this question before but not getting the answers i'm looking for or any real understanding of the question!

So to break it down - RM added the barcode system months ago (the square squigly code) - it prints out on all our labels no problems there.  Now I know this is not full tracking and is for 'proof of delivery' only on items that are just sent via 24 and 48 letter/large letter/parcel etc.  HOWEVER unless the barcode number is recorded in the tracking box it is still useless as we cannot access the proof of delivery information or provide it to the channel/customer.

So when is it going to become a useable 'tracking' option with the numbers recorded on LW and sent to Ebay/Amazon?  We were told early 2016, then Spring, then Summer......

Any update on this for people using the old Royal Mail integration and linnworks desktop

Is it a MUST to move to the new Royal Mail .net integration and use it with Linnworks desktop?

Thanks

Hi Imran

All I can say is that I 100% agreed with you and we need this up and running ASAP.

And this is the proof if Linnworks needs the hint!!

I've been contacting my Royal Mail team as previously mention and to date I've had around about twelve lost parcel claims since my last post (17 days ago). Every single one was proved to already been delivered which has confirmed my suspicions that all previous lost claims may have been by dishonest customers who were waiting to receive their order and visually check the parcel to see if it had any tracking information which would discredit their claim. Obviously they currently do not know that the 2D barcode is the tracking system. Only one customer has so far tried to take it further by claiming that they did not sign for the parcel. This was still proven to been lies as the Royal Mail scanner logs the GPS co-ordinates of the scan.

I have now saved around £200 which has paid for the increase price of Linnworks!!

So come on Linnworks, any update??

I don't seem to be able to add the new integration. When you click add integration the only options showing are Royal Mail OBA and Tracked which we use already. How do we add these services??

Following the earlier reply from Salvatore Parrinello, I contacted Royal Mail by e-mail to find out the status of a few not received packages.  My account manager recommended that I contact the myteamxxx@your.royalmail.com e-mail address - the xxx is your region.  They ask for company details and the 21 digit barcode above the 2d barcode then reply with results.  I enquired on Friday and received a reply today.  I didn't ask for it but the didn't give me the full tracking just confirmed that it was delivered on xx date.

Any news from Linnworks on when these 2d barcodes will be accessible on the desktop software?

Hello,

We still can not turn 2d tracking numbers on in desktop, as they produce an additional barcode. I'll keep you posted.

Hello everyone,

As for now, we've came up with a decision to implement 'Default Weights' in .net integration.

This will allow customers, who do not use inventory management module, printing Royal Mail labels via Linnworks.net

Development project should start next week, so hopefully the feature will be live by the end of November.

Sorry Olga I'm confused - can you clarify the above post? Do you mean that there are now no plans to automatically post the 2D barcode back into Desktop Version.

We use the inventory management module and do have weights for everything in LW - does this mean that we can us LW.net version to produce our manifest even though we use Desktop version for everything else including running the orders.

Part of the problerm is also compounded by the fact that Royal Mail have not made tracking for these 2D deliveries live anywhere on RM site yet. When we email the local team for confirmation of delivery and relay this back to the customer most of them back off but it's a slog as some people at Royal Mail respond to emails saying these are not valid tracking numbers - they don't even know the difference between the 2D numbers and tracking numbers for packages sent tracked!!! When you email back again with the same numbers you then get a valid response - sometimes but it's so tedious!!! I've been told by our manager it's imminent but no timescale yet.

Hello,

With the above post, I was trying to say that we are adding a missing feature to .net integration. 'Default Weight' is the only feature that still forces some customers to stick to desktop app, rather than migrating to .net

As for now you still have to create a new Royal Mail integration in .net to get 2D matrixes assigned to Tracking Number field. Unfortunately, we still have no solution for desktop, so we've decided to rectify all the faults and add all the needed features to .net, just to make sure there's nothing that makes you stick to desktop application.

Speaking of migration to .net, there's no default automated way of copying the integration over from desktop to .net, however our shipping development team is now working on a new procedure of seamless migration, which will copy all the services and their settings over to .net making sure your scripts and Rules Engine (if set up) will continue working with no changes. You will still be able to use desktop app to print labels, they will just be going through the new integration and consignments will be added to the manifest, that will have to be filed via .net

We are not forcing anyone to migrate to .net, but if anyone is interested in a seamless migration, using our new procedure, please contact me at olga.silina@linnsystems.com

Hi Olga. Please let us know when the default weight option is available. I have .net integration set up just the weight has stopped me switching over. For those with desktop, you can reprint the label to get the tracking number, bit of a roundabout way of doing it but it works OK.

Hello

Our account also on trial with the Delivery Confirmation for CLR services.

why Linnworks haven't implemented that yet,  all we need is to save this 21 digit number in the tracking field of the desktop application.

Doesn't look like a rocket science

Does anyone know when this is going live on desktop? We really need this information.

Salvatore Parrinello: How do you re-print royal mail labels that have already been processed?

Woohoo, got confirmation via a smart letter from Royal Mail that 2D tracking is now live on their site so can easily check if item has been delivered, checked and it is. (royalmail.com/confirmed)

The next step is to get autmatic confirmation in Linnworks, did I read this was happening or has someone got to write a app to get this functionality?

Regards,
Phil.

If you remove your existing royal mail integration and use the royal mail integration wizard on .net then you will have the 2D barcode data on desktop.

Unfortunately it also submits the barcode data for international deliveries so we now have a lot of people messaging us saying "the tracking doesn't work" !!

Hi Mark

You need to search for the order within "Processed Orders". Once you've found the order, right click on it and select "Action" and then choose "Reprint Label" and you'll see the 2D number on the label.
