Background

APC Overnight has introduced changes to safe place shipping settings, impacting how items are handled when recipients are not available to receive them. Previously, adding a Courier Note was the standard method for indicating if an item could be left in a safe place. However, this method is no longer sufficient, leading to increased customer inquiries about missed packages.

Solution

The new approach replaces Courier Notes with three distinct options for indicating safe place preferences: Allowed, Not Allowed, and Consignee Choice.

This change allowes adjustments on service and config level:

- Setting a Config Safe Place Option

If you prefer to use the same safe place setting across all APC services, follow these steps:

Go to Shipping > Integrations > Config > scroll down to Additional Options > select the preferred option under Safe Place:

Save and this option will be used for all Ordres shipped via APC Overnight.

- Assigning Specific Safe Place Values per Service

Go to Shipping > Integrations > APC > Services > Edit for the specific service you want to configure > set the desired Safe Place option for the particular service:

Save and this option shall be used for the Servie in question only.

Keep in mind the priority of settings: When both the config and service-specific settings are specified, the service-level setting will take precedence.
