This article outlines updates that need to be made to Magento 1 environments to ensure their continued support from 1st October 2017

Linn Systems have undertaken major development work to support both Magento 1 and Magento 2 (version 2.0.8 and higher) within Linnworks using a common infrastructure for both Order and Inventory Management.

Specifically this allows Linnworks to communicate with both Magento 1 and Magento 2 using the same internal methods, as well as being able to take advantage of our upgraded cloud-based order and inventory synchronisation methodology. Enhanced reporting supported via Linnworks.net in the Sync Status and Automation Logs functionality provides improved feedback on your integration.

What changes do you need to make to your Magento environment?

To ensure that your system is able to take advantage of this enhanced functionality and ultimately work with Magento 2, we have performed an analysis on the methods that your current Magento system supports. This analysis has highlighted that the following updates need to be made to your existing Magento environment:

  1. SOAP extension must be installed and enabled within your Magento environment

  1. Your Magento environment needs to be set up with WS-I Compliance

  • The steps involved in completing this update are as follows:

    • Login to the Magento back-end

    • Go to Magento System > Configuration > Services > Magento Core API > General Settings

    • Tick the option WS-I Compliance

  • We also strongly advise that you enable WSDL cache, as this can significantly improve the performance

  1. Loopback connection needs to be enabled

  • Loopback connection specifically allows the Magento server to connect back to itself.

  • To enable this option, you will need to contact your service provider and ask them to enable it on your behalf.

Should you require any assistance when making these updates, we recommend contacting the Magento developers who either installed or maintain your Magento environment, as we are not able to provide any support for your Magento server.
