This guide applies to Amazon Orders only. Updates for other marketplaces will be provided as more details become available.


Scenario


I need to submit a Swiss VAT Number for an Order shipped to Switzerland.

Solution


Starting January 1, 2025, Switzerland's Value Added Tax (VAT) rules will apply to all e-commerce sales to Swiss customers.


When an Amazon international or domestic order is delivered to an address in Switzerland (including the Principality of Liechtenstein and the German municipality of Büsingen), Swiss VAT will be calculated and collected at checkout and remitted directly to the Swiss tax authorities. Linnworks allows you to add a Swiss VAT Number as an Order Extended Property. Depending on the integration, this information can be added as either Importer VAT or Shipper VAT.


Examples from Shipping Integrations:


1. Evri Corporate


Go to Shipping > Integrations > Properties > ImporterVATNumber available as Order Extended Property:


2. DHL Express


Go to Shipping > Integrations > Properties > Shipper VAT Number available as Order Extended Property:



Keep in mind: Use Importer VAT Number where possible. Only use the Shipper VAT Number if Importer VAT is unavailable.


Ensure the correct VAT property is assigned based on the shipping integration.


To verify spelling and property fields, check Shipping > Integrations > Properties > the right side of the column shows what to add as an Order Extended Property.



Adding the Order Extended Property


- Using the Rules Engine


  • Create a new Condition to identify Orders being shipped to Switzerland:


  • Define an Action to assign the Swiss VAT Number as an Order Extended Property:

- Manually


  • Go to Order > Open Orders.

  • Select the relevant Order ID and click Edit.

  • Go to Properties > Extended Properties > Add Extended Property.

  • Choose an Attribute, and a new field will appear.

  • In the Name field, enter the name of the Extended Property (same as in shipping integration).

  • In the Value field, enter the Swiss VAT Number and Save.
