Starting December 13, 2024, the European Union's updated General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) takes effect. This change requires adding GPSR information to Fruugo listings to ensure product safety and compliance in EU markets.
Note: GPSR information is required for products shipped or sold in EU-based countries, UK, Norway, or Switzerland. Products without safety information can be removed from sale. |
Full information on how to comply with the new GPSR is provided by Fruugo in this guide.
Important! Linnworks does not determine which specific attributes are required for your items. We only provide a technical solution to send the necessary attributes to your Fruugo listings. If you are unsure about the required attributes for your items, please contact Fruugo for guidance. |
Updating listings with GPSR information via Linnworks
You can add the required GPSR information to your Fruugo listings via Linnworks using two methods.
Method 1
Any information unique to different items must be mapped to an Extended Property (EP) name. This method involves four main steps:
- Updating the necessary items with the required extended properties (EPs).
- Applying the EPs as attributes in the corresponding Fruugo configurators.
- Mapping attributes accordingly directly in your Fruugo account.
- Re-submitting the feed from Linnworks to Fruugo.
See below for a detailed explanation of each step.
Method 2
Any information common across all items for the given configurator can be entered in the Default Value column. For full details, refer to Step 2 (sub-step 4) in this article.
Step 1. Updating the necessary items with the required EPs
This step requires you to update the items you sell in EU-based countries, UK, Norway, or Switzerland, with the EPs that include the GPSR information Fruugo requires for such listings.
Safety information attributes
Fruugo requires up to 8 safety-related attributes which are explained in the table below. You can use the Inventory Import to update your items with the required EPs in bulk, or you can manually add EPs to the items.
- Note: You can apply Default Values to the required attributes. In this case, you do not need to update each individual item with the EPs, as all listings will use the same values. For full details, refer to Step 2 (sub-step 4) in this article.
The list of required attributes to be added as EPs. For examples of valid values, refer to Fruugo's guide.
Attribute name | Description | Mandatory/Optional | Valid values |
Safety Warnings | Safety warnings and labels inform consumers of risks, safe usage instructions, and proper disposal actions. Provide a safety warning for each SKU if applicable; a product may have multiple warnings. | Mandatory for some categories. For a list of categories, see this Fruugo guide. | List relevant safety warnings. If multiple warnings, use quotation marks, separated by commas and enclosed in square brackets [...]. For example:
|
CE Marking | A CE mark shows that a product meets legislative requirements. For SKUs in mandatory categories, indicate if a CE mark is present to avoid removal from sale. | Mandatory for some categories. For a list of categories, see this Fruugo guide. | Add '1' to indicate that a product has a CE mark; all other values will be ignored. Items without a CE mark may be removed from sale. |
Ingredients | For cosmetics or food supplements, provide a list of ingredients, including the ingredient, quantity, and unit where applicable. | Mandatory for some categories. For a list of categories, see this Fruugo guide. | List the ingredients in square brackets [...], separated by commas.
|
Safety Attestation | If a single safety information type (Safety Warning, CE Mark, Ingredients, Serial Number, Manufacturer Part Number, Model Number, Batch Number) is not required for your SKU, and it is in an obligatory category, you must provide a safety attestation. | Required for SKUs in mandatory categories if you believe safety info is unnecessary. | For mandatory categories without required safety information, enter '1' to confirm compliance. |
Serial Number | A unique identifier assigned to a specific product by the manufacturer. | Optional | Example: SN: 20230715-001-123 |
Manufacturer Part Number | A number to uniquely identify a specific product among all products from the same manufacturer. | Optional | Example: 100-440-0.750-3434-A |
Model Number | A unique identifier for a product that is used to differentiate between models in a manufacturer’s line of products. | Optional | Example: LAT1000AAE |
Batch Number | A unique identifier assigned to a group of products that were manufactured together. | Optional | Example: 20240731 |
Here is an example of an item updated with the above EPs:
Step 2. Applying the EPs as attributes in the configurator
Once you have updated the items with the required EPs, you must link them to the appropriate attributes in the Fruugo configurators.
- Open the Fruugo Configurators screen by going to Settings > Configurators > Fruugo.
- Open the Attributes screen for the required configurator.
- Fruugo requires up to 8 safety-related attributes (see the table above). In Linnworks, for the Fruugo configurators, attributes numbered 1 to 10 are available for mapping. Decide which attributes will hold the safety info, and map them to the corresponding EPs, as shown in the screenshot below. In the example below, Attribute 1 will be used for Safety Warnings information, Attribute 2 for CE Marking and so on.
- Note: You can also apply Default Values to these attributes in the configurator. In this case, you do not need to update each individual item with the required EPs, as all listings will use the same values.
Step 3. Map attributes in your Fruugo account
After mapping attributes in Linnworks — either to EPs or by specifying default values — you must map the attributes in your Fruugo account to ensure the data from the Linnworks feed is sent to the correct fields on Fruugo.
Note: The mapping in your Fruugo account must match the mapping in Linnworks. For example, if you map Safety Warnings to Attribute 1 in Linnworks, it must also be mapped to Attribute 1 in your Fruugo account. |
To complete the mapping in Fruugo, follow the steps below:
- Login to your Fruugo Retailer Portal.
- Go to the Catalogue section and open the Settings page.
- In the Attribute Mapping section, replicate the mapping as it appears in Linnworks.
Step 4. Re-sumbit the Linnworks feed to Fruugo
Once the EPs are imported/manually added to the required items and linked to the appropriate attributes or required default values specified in Linnworks, you need to re-submit this information to Fruugo via the Linnworks feed.
To do that:
- In the Fruugo Configurators screen, click the link in the Products in the Feed column for the desired configurator.
- In the top-right corner of the screen, click the Submit Feed button.
