Starting December 13, 2024, the European Union's updated General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) takes effect. This change requires adding GPSR information to eBay listings, helping ensure product safety and compliance across EU markets. The regulations need to be applied to both the old and new eBay Listings APIs.

Note: GPSR information is required for products shipped or sold in EU-based countries or Northern Ireland.

Full information on how to comply with the new General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is provided by eBay in this guide.

Important!
A detailed description of each attribute listed below is provided by eBay in this guide. Linnworks does not determine which specific attributes are required for your items. We only provide a technical solution to send the necessary attributes to your eBay listings. If you are unsure about the required attributes for your items, please contact eBay for guidance.

The process involves three main steps:

Step 1. Updating the necessary items with the required Extended Properties (EPs)

This step requires you to update the items you are selling in EU-based countries or Northern Ireland with the EPs that include the information eBay requires for such listings.

There are two main types of EPs to add:

  • Text fields: These include general information, such as Company Name, Country, Postal Code, Image Description, and more.
  • Document URL fields: These include links (URLs) to your regulatory documents associated with the listing(s).

Text fields

Below are the EPs that eBay requires for the listing. These should be added in Linnworks as EP with values in Text and Number formats.

  • We have prepared a sample file for you to download. You can update the data in the file as needed and use the Inventory Import to update your items with the required EPs. See the attached sample file at the bottom of this article.
  • You can also manually add extended properties to your items.
  • Note: You can apply Default Values to the required listing attributes. In this case, you do not need to update each individual item with the extended properties, as all listings will use the same values. For full details, refer to Step 2 (sub-step 4) in this article.

The list of required attributes to be added as EPs:

regulatory.energyEfficiencyLabel.imageDescription
regulatory.energyEfficiencyLabel.imageURL
regulatory.energyEfficiencyLabel.productInformationSheet
regulatory.hazmat.component
regulatory.hazmat.pictograms
regulatory.hazmat.signalWord
regulatory.hazmat.statements
regulatory.manufacturer.addressLine1
regulatory.manufacturer.addressLine2
regulatory.manufacturer.city
regulatory.manufacturer.companyName
regulatory.manufacturer.country
regulatory.manufacturer.email
regulatory.manufacturer.phone
regulatory.manufacturer.postalCode
regulatory.manufacturer.stateOrProvince
regulatory.productSafety.component
regulatory.productSafety.pictograms
regulatory.productSafety.statements
regulatory.repairScore : number
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].addressLine1
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].addressLine2
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].city
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].companyName
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].country
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].email
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].phone
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].postalCode
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].stateOrProvince
regulatory.responsiblePersons[].types
Note:
  • You can name the EP anything as long as it helps you recognize it correctly and link it to the corresponding specification in the eBay configurator. *The EP name is limited to 50 characters.
  • You can add up to 5 responsible persons to the EPs using the format: regulatory.responsiblePersons1 through regulatory.responsiblePersons5.
    • The [] in the regulatory.responsiblePersons EP represents a number. You need to replace it with 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 — for example, regulatory.responsiblePersons2.email.
  • The regulatory.productSafety.statements and regulatory.productSafety.pictograms values must be added as specific codes. Refer to eBay's guide to determine the exact code required for your items.
  • When adding information about countries (for example, regulatory.manufacturer.country), add each country as a separate EP, using the corresponding country code as the EP value. For example:
    • The EP name - regulatory.manufacturer.country
    • The EP value - AD
    • The EP type - attribute
  • All EP values must be set to Attribute.

Here is an example of an item updated with some of the above EPs:

Document URL fields

For document uploads, you need to add links (URLs) to your regulatory files, and you can include up to 5 links in the EPs. The following fields are available for submitting document URLs.

regulatory.documentUrl1
regulatory.documentUrl2
regulatory.documentUrl3
regulatory.documentUrl4
regulatory.documentUrl5

Important: Please upload your documents to a public file storage or cloud service and ensure the files are publicly accessible. Supported file types include .PDF, .JPEG/.JPG, and .PNG.

The following two additional attributes must be added for each URL attribute:

regulatoryUrl[].type
regulatoryUrl[].languages

Where:

  • Type refers to the type of document being uploaded, such as a USER_GUIDE_OR_MANUAL or a SAFETY_DATA_SHEET. Refer to this list for the correct document type names.
  • Languages must be separated by commas. This list indicates the language(s) used in the document. Refer to this list for the correct names of languages.

Step 2. Applying the EPs as attributes in the configurator

Once you have updated the necessary items with the required EPs, you need to link them to the appropriate attributes/specifications in the eBay configurators.

  1. Open the eBay Configurators screen by going to Settings > Configurators > eBay.
  2. Open the Specifications screen for the required configurator.

  3. All the regulatory details listed above are available in Configurator > Specifications for selection as attributes. Map all required attributes to the corresponding EPs.

  4. Note: You can also apply Default Values to these attributes in the configurator. In this case, you do not need to update each individual item with the required EPs, as all listings will use the same values.

Step 3. Revise Listing Templates in Linnworks to update listings on eBay

Once the EPs are imported or manually added to the required items and linked to the appropriate attributes in the Specifications, revise the configurator. This will automatically update all listings assigned to it.
